Vice President of Defense Space Systems, Tyvak Nano Satellite Systems
Karen joined Tyvak Nano Satellite Systems in August 2017 as the VP for Defense Space Systems, developing cutting-edge small satellites for defense and intelligence. She began her career at the National Security Agency where for 13 years she supported the intelligence mission with roles including language analyst, contracts, program management and organizational design. In 1999, Karen moved to the private sector with Leidos, (then SAIC) where she took on increasingly larger roles as both a Program Manager and Division Manager. As the responsible executive for the Real-Time Regional Gateway (RT-RG) program from 2005 – 2015, she played a key role in the design and development of a forward-deployed analytical system that gained notoriety for its significant impact on the war effort. As a Capture Manager, Program Manager and responsible executive for the Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) program she was instrumental in capturing the $300M contract and then leading a large multi-contractor team to deliver next generation cyber protection services to the government and military. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Minnesota and an MBA from Johns Hopkins University.
